These are the final outcome of this response and I really like the photographs, they don't give me quite the Ashvini Ray feel I hoped they had but they are, to me, a sensory experience. Some of the images that are blurry give me and effect that I really like, capturing the moment of the subject, stretching or shuffling about in a very natural way. my favourite image over all is the first image in the set of ten, 'the one with the eyes'. I think I like this one the most because if the smooth texture I was able to get through creating a range of tones in the image, it is also very personal to look somebody deep in the eyes and have them look back, so I do think that image would work great really blown up for people to view all the small hidden features. Almost all of these images however are quite obvious portraits, but I would love to explore unconventional portraits, much as Ashvini Ray's photographs look.

I wanted to see what the images would look like if they were printed out on a textured paper, if it would create a really nice effect with the colours and grain in the photographs, if it would allow me to further explore the feel of the colours. I printed them on Cartridge Paper and I really loved how they came out, even though some of them lost their saturation in the process.
I printed them as a4 on an a3 piece of cartridge paper because I thought the boarder around the photograph in the off-white colour of the cartridge paper created a boarder that helped the photographs stand out with the clean white walls, helping to show each photograph in its own light. |
I also printed them out on Cartridge Paper like the images I took prior and once again the effect I got from this is one I really like. The off-white colour of the paper working really nicely with the saturated colours, especially the green and the yellows.

I decided that I wanted to further the sensory experience and create a closer connection with the viewer and subject by adding another photograph of an object the subject would deem important to them that is on their person at all times, because I felt this would add a more personal connection between the viewer and subject. I also feel it gives the photos more explanation, it adds a level of familiarity to the subject and us it's not just a portrait anymore but a look at the person the portrait is showing.

The accompanying text for this test was written by the subject in the photographs about his rings, so all three photos now work almost like a story, you see the subject, you see an object very important to them, and then you read their words about said objects. But I still wanted to add in more senses to create a stronger sensory experience.

Here I have tried to spray the photographs in a cologne/deodorant so that the person viewing the photographs has to get up close and personal to try and smell the photograph, ideally I want the spay to be the one the subject in the photograph wears most often so that its another way you get personal with the subject of the photograph.
